I advise my RA students to submit their CVs with their graduate school applications. This makes an impression on the professors making the selection decisions. When submitting a CV you convey to the faculty that you understand the purpose of going to graduate school, that is ... to be productive, active, and ready to make a contribution.

Remember - outstanding graduate programs are filled with professors busy conducting research and composing manuscripts for publication or professional conferences. When reviewing prospective graduate students, one part of their selection criteria is to ask "is the student ready to hit-the-ground-running?"

Thus, a student that submits a CV - including professional and scholarly accomplishments - demonstrates to graduate-school reviewers that this student knows the system and process of academic productivity. It is my hope that presenting your CV, as part of your graduate school application, will give you a competitive advantage.
